This site is currently our presentation page for our work in creating A World That Works for Everyone. As we move along in the process, the site will evolve from its current presentation state into the central hub for A World That Works for Everyone! It will have many ways for you to get involved and a whole lot to explore later. Beyond what you are about to read here, we have a detailed plan, a blueprint for creating A World That Truly Works for Everyone. This is just our first introduction, a glimpse into where we are going on this journey, as each piece of it comes together into physical form, much more will be shared, to that end, if you would like to stay aware of all of our latest changes on the site, events and other exciting changes, please subscribe to our mail-outs. Stay tuned, there are many wonderful things to come.

Welcome

I am honored you are here.

I’ve asked you here to discuss “A World That Works for Everyone.” You may be asking “What the heck is that?” It’s the possible beginning of worldwide change, for all of us. Let me say that again, for ALL of us. It’s what I believe has been at the heart of all your individual work. Whether it is focused on education, health, an end to violence, war, genocide, hunger & starvation, gendercide, trafficking, equality, the environment, the well-being of people and animals or any of the other seemingly inexhaustible list of issues we face in our world today. It’s a conversation that has never successfully taken place at a global level. All of our beautiful world’s problems may seem very different. In reality they continue because of an unaddressed single core issue, the “Groundedness” of individuals. (See the Resources section for a definition of “Groundedness” titled “Groundedness, Ingredients for Mastery”) Once addressed, it will affect everything related to our individual and collective well-being and endeavors.”

When we are Grounded, we tend to our own well-being, the well-being of others and the planet. We have many programs related to every issue you can imagine, including well-being. We have laws that are made to keep humans in line and yet we still have crime, we still have war and damage to each other and our beautiful world. bill cumming once told me, ”You can’t legislate morality.” I used to never watch the news, not bother with the paper. “What did it matter to me if there was nothing I could do?” I went on with life, doing what I felt I could do with individual people. Assisting them with their lives. Then one day I met bill cumming; I took his “What Every Person Can Do Course,” followed with the “Advanced Conversation” and then found myself turning my life upside down, I spent 49 hours on a bus going to a small town in Maine where I was FUREEZING! It was and continues to be truly, wonderfully and wildly worth it. The News suddenly became interesting. I could do something. And the world mattered in a whole new way. Bill has been working on issues related to well-being, Groundedness and workability in the world for the last 55 years. Now, before you think I am preparing to give you some long speech about why the course (Appendix Eight) is the end all and be all answer for A World That Works for Everyone, I’m not. I have a plan and it includes what bill discovered and is not limited to any one solution.

I would be delighted for you to “Not” believe one single word I am saying, and to fiercely test every aspect of it out for yourself. You can find out more about the plan for global change by contacting The Boothby Institute directly and arranging a call with bill or me.

I look forward to talking with each and Every one of you!

I do not know if a World That Works for Everyone will happen in my life time. Imagine just for a moment that it works. Isn’t this work worthy of your love, attention and time? Let’s begin the conversation; let’s begin the journey, I’d love to see where this takes us, ALL of us, The humans, The Planet, The animals, the collective US.

Let me begin by defining a few matters. I’ve told you that Groundedness is the core issue to be addressed. Why? Grounded people don’t damage others. Grounded people would not wish for or start wars, they love their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children, spouses and neighbors more than that. They would rather work matters out in a manner that leaves EVERYONE on both sides alive, well and with the needs of all met. Grounded people want well for EVERYONE, from all countries and backgrounds and for the planet. Because they recognize and experience the mutualness and interconnectedness of ALL life, they know you want the same for your kids as they want for theirs. When people begin to come from a place of loving-kindness, knowing they are enough, and that there is always a choice; they simply do not damage the earth, other living creatures or each other, they have no desire to. They quite naturally begin to take care of each other and begin to view everyone as family. When Groundedness is present, we just handle hunger and starvation; as the woman in Michael Moore’s movie “Where To Invade Next,” stated, “How can you in a way come home and feel well if you know that there are so many people that can’t eat, they are sick, they can’t go to the doctors, they can’t get any education, how can you come home and feel okay with that. I couldn’t.” She lives in Iceland and is CEO of an all women run bank, the only bank that survived during the big financial crash of 2008. What was different about their company? “They considered the good and well-being of ALL” That is what I want to do on a global scale, I want to consider the well-being of ALL. Our kids, our planet’s kids, would love to be loved, have fresh water, a healthy planet, a solid meal, a healthy environment, an awesome free education, know that their value and worth in the world is a given, be able to live a life of value and purpose doing something they truly love and walk around outside without fear of violence. I believe the world’s people want and will want the experience of that for their kids, for themselves and for their brothers and sisters of our planet.

What about economy? Funds? When people begin to do what they love and are Grounded, the economy will prosper. The people will prosper. The people will contribute their prosperity to the well-being of our family of 7 billion. In countries that have ended hunger and persistent starvation, the population stabilizes. (See The End of Poverty, Jeffrey D. Sachs, PhD.) Additionally, according to Dr. Sachs, the major industrialized nations spend approximately 4/10ths of one percent of their GNP (Gross National Product) on humanitarian issues of all kinds. With an increase to 7/10ths of one percent hunger and persistent starvation could be ended permanently, slowing population growth and adding new potential consumers.

Additionally, when confronted with the alternatives of creating A World That Works for Everyone or continued strife, unrest and damage to the ecology of the planet, it is likely that a larger number of corporations will begin practicing what is called “Enlightened Capitalism,”(Appendix Three) thus creating more companies that reward investors, management and workers equally and developing corporate philosophies that create working environments that are exciting, rewarding, truly service oriented as well as highly profitable. (Appendix Four) Patagonia, Ducati, Lardini and Faber-Castell are models worth exploring.

As people step forward and commit to A World That Works for Everyone, it will domino worldwide. It is my experience that
A World That Works for Everyone is in your hearts and at the root of all your work, past and present.

These two videos and mindful moment are worth a pause in our conversation for some reflection. This video asks us “Where Are We Really?” It is from Carl Sagan’s book “Pale Blue Dot.”

Bill writes mindful moments every week. Here is one of them:

Deceived

The reality is that 7 billion of us are deceived daily.

What has deceived us is actually our own minds.

Just as a drop of water does not imagine ocean, we do not experience miracle.

~ We Live in A Miracle…~

We are such a tiny planet in the grand scheme of things, in an infinite universe. In this incredible home we share with our family of 7 billion called earth. Can we agree perhaps that A World That Works for Everyone is truly an “idea whose time has come?” Why is miracle important at all? Because, when we experience miracle, we become a little more present to what we are doing or working on, the preciousness of this very second right now… and this second… and this one… or the person with whom we are interacting. Coming from a space of presence, experiencing the preciousness of every second and getting in touch with the miracle in which we live is a vital part of effectiveness in all matters. The experience of miracle is a part of Groundedness.

Many matters are truly improving globally.

Michael Moore’s “Where to Invade Next” highlights 12 companies and social programs around the world that really work and can be replicated by any group of Grounded people. (Appendix Nine)

The world is full of excellent programs and resources which can be replicated as part of creating A World That Works for Everyone.

It feels as if things are getting worse because of the way we are treating each other and because there is a great deal of “me first” going on at a national, international and personal level; it is because people do not “see” or “experience” another possibility.

We have not decided to create A World That Works for Everyone yet. There is no commitment to it.

What we are creating is the opportunity for commitment.

As Victor Hugo said, “There is nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has come.”

Many people believe that nothing they do makes any difference.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Every single thing we do matters. Every interaction with another human being, business we create, every action must reflect our commitment.

We have not defined well-being or Groundedness and we must.

Governments, corporations, schools (Appendix Four), every institution must be run on a set of principles which reinforce and demonstrate a commitment to:

“A World That Works for Everyone” is an idea whose time has come.

Why hasn’t anyone solved it yet?

Before I met bill, I believed the situation looked gargantuan; many people don’t believe they have any power to change things and in many cases, felt they had no choice. Others are operating out of massive fear and insecurity. I was one of the ones who could not fathom how to begin tackling issues of such grand proportion. I now know there is something I can do and that there is ALWAYS a choice! I know in my heart A World That Works for Everyone is not only possible but doable in the near future. Let’s do this while we have a planet. (Appendix One) Let’s reverse climate change, create an environment conducive to acceptance of ALL peoples and beliefs, end violence and provide a stable existence for ALL people. It’s worth finding out where we can take this. You are worth it, our family of 7 billion is worth it.

Many of us have no clue what Groundedness or A World That Works for Everyone would look like.

There are two parts to Groundedness, one is about being; the other is about doing. Being is about treating people with dignity, grace and loving-kindness. We must take responsibility for our own Groundedness and well-being, not blaming others for how we feel, making sure that what we say and do is consistent with A World That Works for Everyone.

20 Days

A World That Works for Everyone will be created one person at a time.

Are you willing to be that person?

Will you talk with everyone you know, your parents, your friends, the people with and for whom you work?

Will you contribute (money, time, talent) according to your ability?

Will you bring dignity, grace and loving-kindness to every interaction you have with people, organizations, corporations?

How will you be that person in the world?

How will you be the spark that lights the fire/passion of and for

A World That Works for Everyone?

Will you be persistent in the face of no agreement?

If everyone spoke with just three different people a day, here is how long it would take to reach

7,700,000,000 people and let them know that we are creating A World That Works for Everyone and what they can do.

20 Days.

This is a very small planet.

Here at the Boothby Institute, this is what we are up to every moment of everyday. We welcome You as one of our family of 7 billion to: get in the conversation, get into action, call us, write us, or send a homing pigeon our way. We look forward to meeting You, All of You.

How long will it take each person to live in a way that makes A World That Works for Everyone real? That is up to each of us, in every moment of everyday, global change starts in the heart of each person reading this and ripples out into the world with each choice we make.
